Walking Tour – Kingston’s Businesses – Led by George Luck, Jr.

Kingston’s Businesss – A Walking Tour – 2:00 PM, SATURDAY OCTOBER 6, 2018

The walk will start at the Kingston Presbyterian Church parking lot, 4565 Route 27, Kingston, NJ and end at the Kingston Lock tender’s House at the D&R Canal State Park where information on Kingston business will continue. In addition to a display on Kingston’s Businesses, there will be a demonstration of Paul Kayne’s models of the lock and former “A” Frame Bridge.

The walk will be led by George Luck, Jr. once again demonstrating his deep knowledge of Kingston history. He will point out some of its past businesses, telling about their owners and history. These businesses represent a time when Kingston was dependent on local merchants to supply groceries to shoes and to meet the needs of emerging businesses in the automotive era. Please join us as we walk along Main Street (once a King’s Highway) to the Kingston Lock area.

Come and learn the history of Kingston’s businesses, and the impact they have made in the community from the days of stage coaches, canal, Lincoln Highway and today. Rides will be provided for those not wishing to walk back to the Kingston Presbyterian Church parking lot.

The event is free and open to the public. All are welcome.
