We – the community of believers at the Kingston Presbyterian Church, led by the Holy Spirit, guided by the scriptures, and united in Christ – nurture one another, care for those in need, and proclaim the Gospel to all.
Mission Statement
This graphic representation of our Mission Statement was created to illustrate that Kingston Presbyterian Church is a welcoming church that offers many opportunities for members to grow their faith. As members mature, they are empowered to serve locally, regionally, or abroad. Participants bring back experiences from their service to welcome more newcomers and strengthen the membership, reinforcing the cycle. This theme spans generations and inspires those who are life-long members or are only in the Princeton area for a few years.
We give great respect to the Reformed tradition in worship and ministry, but the focus has always been on the authority of God’s Word as our foundation. God’s Word, the Bible, is meant to be preached “in season and out of season” (2 Tim. 4:2), as the source of our faith (Rom 10:17), and the thing of most importance (Luke 10:42). For this reason, the worship service centers on exposition of scripture, and is the basis for Sunday School, confirmation classes, and weekly Bible studies.
Kingston Presbyterian’s response is evident in both evangelistic outreach and mercy ministry – both following our understanding of the commands of scripture. Our theological basis is God’s word, as expressed in both the Old and New Testaments. This church works in a variety of ways to fulfill the many biblical admonitions to help the needy (Matthew 25:40b “Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brethren, you did it to me.”). Specific examples include: conducting and participating in food drives and hunger campaigns, clothing assistance, hosting visiting students, scholarships and a loan fund for college students, a Christmas Angel Tree, participation in fund raising for many causes, and active support of missionaries, locally and across the globe.
